My power trowel blade assembly locked up mid-pour on a 40 yard slab
Was finishing a warehouse floor in Phoenix last Tuesday when the trowel just seized right up. Ended up having to hand finish about 300 square feet with a crew of three while waiting two hours for a replacement part. Anybody ever had a blade assembly fail that fast on a newer machine?

That machine sounds like it had an issue from the start. A brand new trowel shouldn't lock up like that mid-pour unless something was wrong with the blade assembly or the hydraulic system. Probably a bad bearing or a seized belt pulley. I've seen guys run older machines for years without a problem, but newer ones sometimes have cheap parts from the factory. Might be worth checking the warranty on that specific model, cause two hours of hand finishing on a 40 yard slab is brutal in Phoenix heat.

Well I've been there with my old trowel acting up at the worst possible time. Just goes to show you can plan all you want and still end up on your hands and knees with a hand float sweating like a fool.
