Dropped $180 on a bull float that sat in my garage for 8 months
Bought a big magnesium bull float two summers ago because the guy at the supply house in Lubbock swore I needed one for a 30 by 40 slab job. Used it once. The handle was too short for the reach and I ended up going back to my old wooden one I got for $40 at a pawn shop. Tried to sell it on marketplace and got lowballed to $60, so it just sits there leaning on the wall collecting dust. Lesson is I should have rented one first to see if I even liked the feel before dropping that kind of cash. Anybody else got a tool in the corner that was supposed to change your whole game and just didn't?
That $180 hurts just reading it. My tile saw is the same deal, spent $300 on a nice wet saw for one bathroom job and now it's under a tarp in the shed. Renting first is smart, I do that now with anything over $100. The feel of a tool in your hands matters more than what the guy at the counter says.
