The time an old IT guy told me to never trust a UPS beep
He said always replace the battery the first time it beeps at you, and I ignored him for 2 years until a server crashed during a brownout last summer. Cost me $1,200 in recovery fees and a whole weekend of work - anyone else learned that lesson the hard way?

Happens with everything, cheap out once and pay triple later down the road.

Man, I gotta push back on that a little @oliver_torres4. Sometimes buying cheap is the SMART move if you know what you're doing - like I grabbed a $20 pair of work gloves last year and they're still going strong, while my buddy's $80 ones ripped in three months. It's more about knowing where you can cut corners and where you absolutely can't, not just blindly paying more. Like with tools, I'll cheap out on a hammer but not on a drill, you know? The real trick is figuring out which items will actually break fast and which ones are just overpriced.
