Showerthought: has anyone noticed thermal paste drying out way faster on newer builds?
Been fixing machines for 12 years and something weird happened. I used to pull apart a 5 year old box and the paste was still soft, a little crusty around the edges but fine. Now I'm seeing paste on 18 month old builds come off like chalk, cracks and flakes everywhere. Same brand I always used. Switched cases for better airflow on my last few jobs so I don't think it's heat. Am I losing it or did something change in the paste or how hot these chips run now? What are you all seeing?
