Remember swapping out those big hard drives for a new OS?

Back in 2005, installing a fresh Windows XP meant pulling the whole drive, cloning it to a new one with a bulky IDE dock, and hoping the image took. It was a 2 hour job, easy. Now, I just plug in a $20 USB 3.0 stick, boot from it, and the installer runs in 20 minutes. The shift to solid state and UEFI around 2012 changed everything. Anyone else miss the physicality of it, even if it was a pain?

The physical process felt like real work, like you were actually fixing something. Pulling that ribbon cable, setting the master-slave jumpers, it was a whole ritual. Now it's just silent and done before you can even make coffee.

You think faith_torres83 misses the jumper pins the most?
