Rant: thermal paste pump-out on a 6th gen Intel, or did I just screw up?
I've been repasting a 2015 i7-6700K for a client in Austin and used a thicker paste this time, but after 4 days under load, temps shot up 12 degrees higher than with the old tube. Everyone online swears pump-out only matters on direct-die GPUs, yet here I am with a fresh spread that clearly migrated to the edges. Is it my mounting pressure, or does thermal cycling on an older socket mess with high-viscosity compounds differently than most techs assume?
