Decided between remote diagnostic software and on-site visits for small clients
I run a small IT side gig and had to choose between paying $30/month for Splashtop or driving 20 miles each way for a client in Peoria. Picked the software after three trips for printer issues last quarter. Anyone else find remote tools create more headaches than they solve?

Ran into the same situation last year and honestly I was all about driving out to clients. Thought remote stuff was lazy. Then I had a week where I drove to three different offices just to restart routers. After $60 in gas and like 4 hours of my life gone I caved and got Splashtop too. Best decision ever. Still go on site for big stuff like hardware swaps but the little fixes are way faster now.

I hear you about the gas money and lost time, but I've had the opposite experience. After relying on remote tools for a few months, I found myself spending more time walking people through basic troubleshooting than it would have taken to just drive there and fix it myself. At this point I'd actually rather do the drive most of the time and know the job is done right.
