Changed my mind about thermal paste, a customer at my shop in Erie talked me into the pea method
I used to spread a thin layer across the whole IHS because that's how I was trained back in 2012, and I swore it beat everything else. Then last week a guy picking up his tower said he'd been building for 15 years and just does one pea-sized dot in the middle, and I tried it on three rebuilds since with temps 4 to 6 degrees cooler under load. Anyone got a real reason the spread method stuck around so long, or was it just habit passed down?
