Tried borrowing a lawn mower from our tool library and it took 45 minutes to check out

I figured borrowing a mower would be quick like grabbing a book, but they had to inspect the blade and clean the air filter before letting me take it. Three people were ahead of me in line, all holding up the process by asking questions about their own tools. Did anyone else's library start doing these heavy inspections and is it actually making tools last longer?

Man, that sounds rough. 45 minutes is way too long for a simple mower checkout, especially when you're just trying to get your lawn done. I hope they can speed things up because that kind of wait really kills the whole point of borrowing.

What worked for me was calling ahead before I even left the house... I found out they had a rush on mowers that day and were backed up. Saved me a trip and I just went in the next morning instead. Also, I started checking their online checkout system before heading over, if they have one. It's not perfect but it gives you a heads up on wait times.
