The library director in Bend told me a number about dropped-off tools that I keep thinking about
I swung by the Bend tool library on NE Dekoevend to donate an old belt sander, and the volunteer mentioned that 1 in 5 donated tools comes back broken or missing parts. That surprised me, because I always figured donated stuff arrives ready to go. She mentioned they now spend about $300 a month on replacement drill bits and missing wrenches, cash that could buy new tools. How are other libraries handling this, do you check tools at the door or just trust people?
