The day our library's tile saw came back with a cracked water reservoir
Last Thursday, a member returned our DeWalt tile saw, and the plastic water tray had a huge crack running along the side. It was our only one, and three people had it booked for weekend projects. I spent the next two hours calling every rental place in a 20-mile radius to find a backup, which cost the library $75 for a one-day rental. It made me realize we need a clearer policy, or maybe a deposit, for tools that are easy to damage. How does your group handle broken tool returns without scaring people off?

Without scaring people off" is tough, but a small deposit you get back after inspection could cover those last-minute rentals.

But that deposit idea from @val_wilson just adds more red tape, lol.
