The 47th drill bit was the one that broke me

I run our tool library checkout stats and last month we hit exactly 47 loans for the electric planer, which seemed weird since everyone insists hand tools are the way to go around here. Turns out our members actually love the noisy power tools, they just don't want to admit it in meetings. Why do we keep pushing manual tools when the numbers clearly show people want the electric stuff?

Right there with you. Our tool library has the same problem, people talk up hand planes and chisels at every member meeting but the cordless drill and the miter saw are always checked out. It's like they have this whole image of themselves as traditional woodworkers but then they grab the power tools the second nobody is looking. The numbers don't lie, I've been tracking our checkout data for two years and power tools outnumber hand tools three to one in actual usage. Why are we letting a few loud voices pretend everyone wants to take the slow route? Let the people have their planers and saws, it's what they actually use.

Right, so @harris.aaron is basically running a covert ops on the tool library stats while everyone else pretends they're in a Victorian furniture catalog. Funny how the "authentic woodworking experience" suddenly needs a battery pack the moment they get home.
