That tip about organizing nails by weight finally paid off
Last month a guy named Frank from the Oakwood rental told me to sort our loose fasteners by weight instead of type. I was skeptical because screws and nails get mixed in buckets pretty quick around here. But I tried it last Saturday with a kitchen scale from the lost and found, and we cut down search time by about 15 minutes per member visit. Has anyone else tried grouping hardware by something other than what it's called?

Sorting by weight is actually clever. Saves digging through a bucket to find a big nail when you need one. Works fine for the day to day stuff.

Wait, have you tried that method yourself? I can see how it would make sense if you've got a mix of sizes and just need something rough and ready. For me though, I'd probably still end up grabbing the wrong size because my eyesight isn't what it used to be. But hey, if it works for you and saves time, that's what matters. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
