Remembering the first time someone brought back a tool cleaner than they got it
About three years ago, a guy named Leo returned a cordless drill to our library in the old VFW hall. He had not just wiped it down, but he'd also oiled the chuck and put fresh bits in the case. He just said, 'It felt right to leave it better for the next person.' That small act really set the tone for how our members treat the shared gear now. Has anyone else had a moment like that that changed how people use your library?

My old apartment building had a shared laundry room. One month, someone left a little basket of free dryer sheets and a cup for quarters by the machines. It wasn't much, but after that, people started leaving their spare detergent pods on the shelf for others. It's like one good move makes everyone else want to match that energy, you know? It spreads from tools to laundry to just holding the door open a second longer.
