Rant: Took me 2 hours to find a replacement auger bit for our library's post hole digger

I spent my entire Saturday morning hunting down a 12-inch auger bit for our shared post hole digger after someone snapped the old one trying to dig through some rocky soil. Called 5 different hardware stores before I found one at a rental place 20 miles out that actually stocked the right size. The whole process took way longer than the actual digging we planned to do (about 40 minutes of work). It's frustrating because we have a decent inventory system for saws and drills, but nobody thought to track smaller parts like auger bits or replacement blades. How does your library handle keeping spare parts on hand for the bigger tools?

Did your friend ever get bit by a loose auger blade?

Hang on, calling 5 stores and driving 20 miles is annoying sure, but is this really THAT big of a deal? Seems like a minor inconvenience for a community tool.
