Question about the $340 tile saw I bought for one job and never touched again
I dropped $340 on a wet tile saw 3 years ago to redo my kitchen backsplash, figured I would rent it out or lend it to neighbors to make some of it back. Fast forward to now and it has sat in my garage taking up shelf space while two guys on my street rented the same saw from the big box store for $55 a day. Last weekend our neighborhood tool share group finally got off the ground with 11 members, and I put the saw on the list along with a post hole digger and a framing nailer. Three people have already asked to borrow it and I keep second guessing whether I should ask for a deposit or just let it ride. The whole point of the library is to stop everyone from buying the same tool over and over, so what is the move here? Do you charge a small fee to cover blades and wear, or keep it free and just hope people take care of it? Curious how other groups handle the expensive stuff.
