Pro tip: stop lending your table saw out and let people borrow the whole shop key instead
I used to run our tool library on a strict one item, one week, one name sign-out sheet, and it ate 15 hours of my life every week just chasing late returns by text. Two winters ago in Lawrence our shed had 340 members and I was the only one with a key, so if I got the flu nobody got a drill. What actually fixed it was handing 9 trusted folks their own copy and letting them sign out whatever they wanted to whoever they vouched for. We had 4 missing items in the first year, which sounds terrible until you compare it to 61 late or lost tools under my old system. Anyone else here tried handing out keys, or does that sound like a fast way to lose your whole inventory?
