Our pressure washer pump gave out mid-job last Saturday
I borrowed a nice electric pressure washer from our library to clean a client's driveway before painting their fence. Ten minutes in, the pump started making this horrible grinding noise and then just quit. I felt terrible, but I brought it back, wrote up exactly what happened on the damage form, and the library manager said they'd get it repaired with the maintenance fund. Has anyone else had a tool fail on them while borrowing and how did your library handle it?

Honestly I used to think library tool rentals were more trouble than they were worth, figuring you'd get beat up stuff nobody cared about. But then my neighbor borrowed their tile saw last spring, the blade guard seized up halfway through her bathroom project, and the library just swapped it out for a different one no questions asked. That experience totally changed my mind - these places actually budget for repairs and replacements, they're not trying to guilt trip you over normal wear and tear.
