My neighbor's drill bit advice saved our shed build

Back when we started our tool library, a retired carpenter named Hank told me to stop buying cheap drill bits and just get one good set. I thought he was being snobby, so I bought a $25 mixed pack instead. Those bits snapped on the third hole through a 2x4, and we lost a whole Saturday waiting for a replacement. Hank's basic Milwaukee set has lasted us over 2 years now with zero breaks. Anyone else get stubborn about a simple tip and regret it?
