My company is thinking about a tool library for remote workers.

In my experience, shared tools save money, but I'm curious about pitfalls.

We use a digital sign-out sheet linked to our work emails. Making people put down a small deposit for expensive items cuts down on losses big time.

Deposits work BEAUTIFULLY for the same reason libraries charge late fees - people suddenly take way better care of stuff that costs them money if they lose it. It's that weird human thing where we treat free things like trash but guard our own wallets like treasure.
