Got the key to our new tool library in Bakersfield and the whole shed smelled like a bait shop
So our little group finally opened a tool library last month in a shed behind the Bakersfield rec center, 3 shelves and about 40 tools to start. First thing I noticed when I unlocked it: the whole place reeked like fish bait, because the landlord had stored his tackle boxes in there for like 10 years. We hung a sign asking folks to donate, and day 2 someone dropped off a chop saw, a post hole digger, and a box of 12 random pipe wrenches. Problem is nobody labeled anything, so now checking out a hammer takes me 5 minutes of digging while people wait. I tried putting colored tape on the handles but half of it peeled off by week 2. Do any of you run a checkout sheet or do you just trust people to bring stuff back?
