Why does nobody talk about how much finning style matters on twins?
Did a deep pipeline inspection off Port Fourchon last week and my air consumption was garbage, like 45 minutes on a 40cf bottle. My dive buddy kept giving me looks. Finally asked him what's up and he said I was kicking from my knees like I was on a bicycle. Switched to kicking from the hips once I hit 90 feet and felt the difference in like 10 minutes. On the way up I realized I've been doing this for 4 years and nobody ever corrected me on it, not even during training. How long did it take y'all to figure out your kick was the problem, or did someone just straight up tell you?

Took me about 12 dives and a cranky cave instructor named Dave to figure it out. He just grabbed my fin mid-water and shook his head like I was a broken toy. Turns out I was doing this weird frog-splash thing with my ankles the whole time, not even using my hips. Switched to a slow frog kick and my gas usage dropped like a rock, went from 30 minutes to almost an hour on the same tank. Now I feel dumb every time I see a new diver doing the bicycle and I have to fight the urge to say something. But hey, at least you figured it out before someone had to demo it on you with a pool noodle.
