Watching the old pier pilings come up in Astoria made me think about how we used to do inspections
Went out to Astoria last month and watched a crew pull a whole set of creosote pilings that had been in the water since the 70s, and I got to thinking about how we used to do those inspections by feel with a lead line and a lot of guessing. Now the young guys show up with a ROV and a screen, and I can't decide if I'm jealous or glad I don't have to explain my hand sketches to anyone anymore. Any of you older hands still keep a paper log of your bottom time, or did everyone go digital?
