Old salvage diver told me I was diving too fast on that wreck in the Gulf... he had a point

He said I was burning through air way quicker than needed and missing small leaks by rushing the descent check. What's your take on taking it slow vs getting the job done fast down there?

The "getting the job done fast" mindset is usually what blows a dive profile in the first place, not the other way around.

Good heavens, you're right. I never really stopped to think about it that way, but now you mention it I can see how true that is. People get so focused on making the boat run on time or hitting a specific bottom time that they skip the little safety checks. It's the hurry that gets you into trouble, not the job itself.
