My reg hose kept failing at 30 feet, took 4 days to figure out

Last week in Port Canaveral I hit a weird problem where my second stage freeflowed every time I got below 30 feet. Surface checks were perfect, I checked the tank valve, swapped regulators with a buddy, nothing fixed it. Turns out it was a cracked HP seat inside the first stage that only showed under pressure, took a full 4 days of dive shop teardowns to find it. Cost me 2 lost charter days and a $180 repair bill I could have avoided if I'd just pressure tested the whole unit first. Anyone else had a gremlin that only shows at depth, what did it end up being?
