Just realized the mud in my boots was my own fault, and it took a rookie to point it out
I have been diving the Gulf for 11 years and I always figured wet boots were just part of the job. Last Tuesday a green hand named Marcus watched me struggle into mine on the deck in Port Fourchon and asked why I was dumping water in them before I put them on. Turns out I had been rinsing the inside to get sand out and never drying them, so I was basically soaking my own socks every morning for a decade. I felt like an idiot standing there with one boot half on. Anyone else got a habit like this that a new guy had to call out?
