I read a report that said the average offshore saturation diver works about 120 days a year.

Found it in an industry safety review from Norway last month. I always figured it was more like 200 days, given the project lengths. Some guys say that's the sweet spot for pay versus burnout, but others argue you need more days to stay sharp and make real money. What's your actual schedule look like on a typical rotation?

That Norwegian report is looking at averages, but on my last project we were hitting 180 days easy. You lose your edge sitting on the beach too long between jobs.

Remember hearing about a diver who tracked his days for a tax thing. He barely cracked 100 days last year because of weather delays and equipment checks. Makes that 120 average sound pretty spot on honestly. The money is good but the waiting around kills you. I knew a guy who pushed for 180 days and he was a complete zombie by Christmas.
