I finally switched from a standard Kirby helmet to a Superlite 17 for my inland dive work after a job in Chicago last month.
The old helmet felt like a tank and made simple tasks a chore, but the new one's lighter weight and better field of view let me finish a 6-hour potable water tank inspection in half the time, so what other gear upgrades have actually been worth the cash for you guys?

It's funny how often the right tool just makes the work disappear. I spent years with a heavy old drill before getting a modern lightweight one, and suddenly hanging shelves wasn't a whole production. My buddy is a painter and said the same thing when he switched to a lighter extension pole. You don't realize how much energy the bad gear sucks up until you try the good stuff.

Come on, it's just a drill. How much energy are you really saving? I get that a lighter tool feels nicer, but calling it life changing seems like a stretch. It's still the same job at the end of the day, you just have a less sore arm. People make way too big a deal over gear sometimes.
