Had a harbor safety guy lose his mind over my dive knife placement

Guy stops me on the dock in Port Fourchon and goes 'you're gonna cut your own hose with that thing', pointing at my leg sheath. Dude was dead serious, like he'd seen it happen ten times. Any of you guys ever actually had a sheath knife cause a hose failure or is that just office paranoia?

That dive safety guy might be onto something actually. Used to think it was just paranoia myself, always wore a leg sheath and never had issues. But then I had a buddy who bent over to pick up a weight belt and his knife handle caught on his manifold hose, yanked the whole rig sideways. He didn't cut anything but the o-ring popped right out and he had a freeflowing reg for a solid minute before he got it shut down. After seeing that I switched to a chest mount and never looked back. The leg placement really does put that blade right in the danger zone if you're moving around tight spaces like a wreck or getting in and out of a boat.

Four years ago my uncle lost his tank setup the same way in the Gulf. @ryand26 your buddy got lucky it wasn't his neck they got caught on instead.
