Got told I need a rescue diver cert for hull cleaning, but I've done 80 dives without it. Is that a real industry standard now or just some insurance company pushing liability, and what have you folks seen on your own contracts?

Honestly, "80 dives without it" doesn't really change what the insurance folks are asking for. I see it as them just covering their own backs, not questioning your skills. Lots of shops are adding that cert just to keep their premiums down, even if you're a solid diver. It's annoying, but probably easier to just get the card than fight it.
