Drysuit dump valve kept sticking, so I switched to a different spring

Over 60 dives in Puget Sound my Apeks valve would hang open about every third trip, dumping cold water down my back. Took it apart and the stock spring had corroded after 8 months of salt work. Swapped in a stainless spring from a hardware store in Tacoma for $4, zero issues since. Has anyone else modded their dump valve instead of buying a whole new drysuit?

Check the spring rate too, not just the metal, before you call it fixed.
