Can we talk about how we did surface-supplied work with a hand crank reel back in the day?
For about two years on a crew out of Morgan City I hauled hose by hand on a 300 foot reel while the new guys got the hydraulic one, and my arms paid for it every single day. Then last month I watched a tender spin that same hose back in under two minutes with one lever, no cussing, no shoulder pain, and I just stood there feeling old. Is anyone else still working boats where the hand crank reel is the backup plan, or did everyone else make the switch years ago?
