Unpopular opinion: learning to code got way easier once I quit trying to learn everything
Six months ago I was bouncing between five different tutorials at once, Python in the morning, JavaScript at lunch, some web dev course at night, and after 3 weeks I could not build a single thing on my own. Then I got sick for a few days and barely touched my laptop. When I came back I picked one thing, just basic Python, and worked through it slow, writing tiny scripts like a tip calculator and a program that renames my music files. Last Tuesday I finally made a working guessing game without copying anyone's code, and I sat there staring at my screen like an idiot because it actually ran on the first try. That one small win did more for me than 40 hours of jumping around ever did. The beginner trap is thinking you need to know it all before you build anything, and that is just wrong. So what is the one thing you stuck with when you started, and did ditching the rest actually help?
