TIL that a missing semicolon can waste 4 hours of your life

I was working on a beginner JavaScript project last Saturday, just a simple calculator. Everything looked fine in my code but the numbers kept adding up wrong. I spent like 4 hours checking loops, variables, and logic over and over. Turns out I was missing one semicolon after an event listener. My friend noticed it in like 2 seconds when I finally sent him a screenshot. I felt so dumb but also kinda relieved it wasn't a bigger issue. How long have you guys spent on one dumb typo before realizing what was wrong?

aint it wild how one tiny thing like that can mess up your whole flow? feels like life in general works that way too, like you forget to check the mailbox one day and miss a bill payment or something small snowballs into a bigger headache.

Maybe it's just me but that mailbox example hits a little too close to home and now I'm side-eyeing my front door suspiciously. One missed envelope and suddenly you're living in a dramatic soap opera about late fees and angry voicemails from collection agencies. Honestly at this point I'm convinced the universe just enjoys watching us scramble over our own tiny mistakes.
