Shoutout to the $12 Python course I grabbed on sale, but my buddy swears the free stuff is just as good
I paid $12 for a beginner Python course on Udemy about 8 months ago and it got me from zero to writing small scripts that actually do stuff around the house, like renaming files and tracking my grocery spending. The videos were short, there were quizzes after each section, and having a clear path meant I stuck with it instead of bouncing around random tutorials on YouTube. But my buddy Dave, who also started learning around the same time, thinks paying for a course is a waste and that free resources like the official Python docs and freeCodeCamp are all you need. He's not wrong that the free stuff is solid, but he's also quit and restarted like three times because he never knows what to do next. I'm honestly torn on whether the $12 actually taught me more or if it just kept me from getting distracted by a hundred tabs. What did you all do when you started out, did you pay for a structured course or just piece it together from free stuff? And if you went free, how did you keep yourself from jumping around too much?
