Just realized I thought 'pair programming' was just a weird office trend
Honestly, I was sure it was just a thing for big tech companies to look cool. Then my friend in Seattle made me try it on a simple weather app project over Zoom. We spent an hour on it and I caught three dumb mistakes I would have stared at for days. Has anyone else been surprised by a coding practice they thought was just hype?

My old boss made us do daily standups and I thought it was just management theater. Turns out hearing about a blocked database connection saved me from making the same mistake that afternoon. Sometimes the annoying process stuff actually works.

Totally get that... it's easy to hate on standups as pointless meetings. But that quick shared info can be a lifesaver. Lets you spot problems before they blow up. The trick is keeping them short and focused, not letting them turn into story time. When they work right, they're weirdly useful.
