I overheard someone say coding bootcamps are a scam and now I feel weird

I was at a coffee shop last week and this guy was telling his friend that coding bootcamps just teach you how to copy paste from Stack Overflow and you'll never get a real job. And idk, I've been teaching myself Python for like 3 months and his words kinda stuck with me. I mean sure, I look stuff up all the time but I feel like I'm actually learning how things work under the hood. Has anyone else had to deal with people doubting the self-taught route and how do you even respond?

My buddy Sarah went through this EXACT thing last month at a family dinner. Her uncle kept going on about how bootcamps are just money grabs and real coders have degrees. She built a full weather app right there on her laptop to prove him wrong, and now he asks HER for tech advice. People love to talk down what they don't understand.
