Framing changes after 3 houses, the air nailer was my worst mistake

I spent 2 years hand-nailing every stud, then borrowed a pneumatic nailer for one weekend rental. The time savings were huge, but the shallow penetration on some joints scared me enough to go back to hammering, has anyone else seen framing fail from cheap air nails?

Man, my buddy's deck collapsed two winters after he used rental nails, he re-did it all by hand.
