Tried a 5 axis post processor from a reseller vs the official one, night and day
I run a small shop outside Cleveland and last month I picked up a used DMG Mori that came with a generic post from the guy I bought it from. He swore it was fine. First real job with a helical bore and some undercuts, the tool path looked okay in sim but on the machine it smashed a corner on the second op. Scrapped a $400 billet. I ended up paying the $900 for the official post from the builder and it was like the machine finally spoke English. Same CAM file, zero edits, ran clean. Anyone else waste money on a cheap post before just biting the bullet?
