Stopped a job to fix a drifting tool, no regrets

I was cutting parts for a machine guard and noticed the finish was getting rough. My lead told me to keep going to meet the deadline, but I paused to replace the insert. It cost us some time, but the final pieces looked great and fit perfectly. Standing up for quality feels better than rushing.

Why accept work you know is wrong when fixing it prevents bigger headaches later?

Seriously though, how bad was the drift actually? Sometimes a slightly rough finish on a machine guard doesn't matter at all for it to work. Was this a case of perfect getting in the way of good enough for the deadline?

Oh man, I read a whole thing about that exact problem.
