Shoutout to the shop in Phoenix that actually cleans out their coolant tanks every month

Visited Precision Machine Works last week and saw them filtering chips from the sump on a Tuesday morning, no mess no fuss, so why do other places wait until the pump burns out to drain that nasty sludge? How often do you guys actually scrub your tanks clean?

Oh man, I'm totally guilty of the "wait til it screams" approach myself (more like a whimper, honestly). My last tank had so much gunk built up that I found a lost 10mm socket and a half-eaten bag of chips in there, true story. You'd think we'd learn our lesson after the first pump replacement but nope, we just keep kicking that can down the road until the sludge wins the battle.

Is it really that big a deal though? I've let mine go way longer and it still chugged along fine, maybe it's more of a "feel" thing than an emergency.
