Ran my first parts on a vice I trammed in myself and the chatter disappeared
Six months ago I was fighting chatter on every 6061 block and just cranking the feed down to deal with it, which meant cycle times around 8 minutes per part. Last week I pulled the vice, stoned the table, dialed it in to under .0005, and the same program ran quiet at 4 minutes with a better finish. Is tramming in a vice really something a lot of guys skip, or did I just work at a sloppy shop?

Wait, tramming the vice fixes slop in the vice, not chatter from the tool or speeds?
