Pro tip: Stop cheating on your tool offsets

Ngl, I keep seeing guys at my shop bumping their offsets by .001" instead of actually measuring when a part runs tight. Spent two hours last Friday chasing a bad bore because someone fudged a wear offset instead of recutting the tool. Has anyone else dealt with parts getting scrapped because of this shortcut?

Honestly, that "bumping by .001" thing reminds me of my buddy who works at a different shop. He spent a whole Saturday redoing a setup cause some guy just tweaked the offset up a hair instead of checking the insert. Wasted a perfectly good part.

@oliver811 The real issue is nobody bothered to check the insert first. That's just lazy troubleshooting.
