Old timer at the shop told me to always use fluid on a tap, I thought he was just being extra...

Last month I was threading some 1/2-13 holes in a steel plate for a fixture at work. I figured I'd save a few minutes and just dry tap them since it was only 6 holes. By the 3rd hole the tap snapped clean off inside the part. Had to spend an hour drilling it out and re-tapping. Should have just listened to the guy with 30 years experience. Anyone else ever try to rush a simple job and end up paying for it big time?

Oh man, that's rough! I once tried to save time on a project by using a dull drill bit and spent the whole afternoon fixing my mess too.

Snapped a 1/4 tap in my truck toolbox latch hole last year, feel your pain.
