I called G10 a crutch for lazy operators, then a night shift guy in Fort Wayne showed me his sub program and I ate my words | CNC Operators - The Community Guide
Ha, I felt that one in my soul. I used to hand write every single offset like it was some kind of badge of honor, and half the time I'd fat finger a number and scrap a part anyway. Then a guy showed me his sub program and I sat there feeling like a genius who just found out he's been tying his shoes wrong for 20 years. Now I let the subs handle the tool wear and I just check them, way less stress and way fewer surprise crashes. Still write the odd offset by hand when the job's a one off, but I'm not gonna pretend it makes me tough.
