Hot take: I chose carbide roughers over HSS endmills for this stainless job and it saved me 3 hours

My boss pushed HSS for cost but after watching the tool wear and chip-out on the first 2 parts, I swapped to a 5-flute carbide rougher and it cut through 304 like butter, has anyone else found carbide worth the extra cash for tough materials?

Cut through 304 like butter" - same here. Carbide paid for itself in one job.

$120 for a 5-flute carbide rougher saved me six hours on a 316 stainless job last month, boss was mad until he saw the finish. Carbide just laughs at 304 where HSS gets chewed up fast.
