My rain barrel setup in Cincinnati just gave out after a heavy storm
It was a basic 55 gallon plastic barrel I got from a local garden center about 8 months ago. The spigot connection cracked during that big downpour we had last Friday, and I lost almost all the water I had saved for my vegetable garden. I had to use a bucket to catch the leak and transfer what I could. Has anyone else had this happen and found a more durable barrel or connector they would recommend?

Well that's just nature's way of reminding you who's really in charge of the water supply (hint: it's not us). Nothing like watching months of careful saving just sprint back to the storm drain in a few minutes. Maybe the barrel was just trying to return to its people. You'd think something made to hold liquid could, you know, hold liquid.

Yeah that's rough, @troy_harris is right about nature winning. You gotta get one of those heavy duty barrels with a brass spigot next time.
