My neighbor the retired engineer changed how I see my compost pile
So last Tuesday I was out turning my compost bin, and my neighbor Tom (he's 72, worked on solar arrays back in the 80s) walks over and says my pile was too wet and suffocating the microbes. He showed me how to layer in browns like cardboard and sawdust, and he even had a little thermometer to check the temp. It hit different because he wasn't being preachy, just matter-of-fact about the science of it. Has anyone else had a random neighbor drop some serious climate knowledge on you?

Tom's the kind of neighbor everyone needs.

Honestly I used to think having a close neighbor was overrated but this totally changed my mind.
