My home energy bill for February was $42. That's the lowest it's been in ten years.
I've been slowly adding insulation and sealing drafts for a few years, but I finally got around to the attic this past fall. The number shocked me because our winter was just as cold as usual. It proves the small, boring fixes actually add up to real money and less gas burned. I'm not an expert, just a guy with a caulk gun. Has anyone else seen a drop like this after tackling one specific part of their house?

That's a crazy drop, congrats. What kind of insulation did you end up putting in the attic, and how thick? I mean, I've got that project on my list but idk where to even start.

Yeah, "idk where to start" is the worst part. I just went with blown-in cellulose, got it up to like 16 inches. Made a huge difference without being crazy expensive.
