Last Tuesday was the hottest day of the year and my AC unit gave out at 2 PM
I live in Phoenix and it hit 115 that day. My landlord said he couldn't get anyone out until Friday. I spent 3 nights sleeping on the floor next to a box fan with wet towels on my neck. Has anyone else's rental place just totally dropped the ball on maintenance during a heatwave?

Oh man, I feel your pain lol. I lived in an old apartment in Tucson a few years back and my AC died during a 110 degree stretch. Landlord kept saying "I'll send someone" for like 5 days. Best advice I got was to buy a cheap window unit from Walmart and have them install it yourself then take it with you when you move out. Also get a thermometer gun to prove the temp in your unit is over 80 degrees, most cities have emergency repair laws for rentals in extreme heat.

Agreed completely on getting a window unit. I did the same thing when my AC broke down in Phoenix last summer. My apartment got up to 95 degrees inside and I was literally sleeping in a wet towel. The landlord kept promising to fix it but took over a week. I finally went to Home Depot and bought a portable AC unit that vents out the window. It wasn't cheap but it saved me from heat stroke. I also started taking photos of the thermostat every day to show them the temperature. Ended up taking the unit with me when I moved out and it's still working in my new place.
